Repco backs Aus/NZ leg of 2026 Hot Wheels Legends Tour
After two years away, the Australian and New Zealand leg of the Hot Wheels Legends Tour has returned for 2026, offering Aussie and Kiwi car builders the chance to have their life-size car immortalised as a 1:64 scale diecast toy. Repco signed on as naming rights partner for the ANZ leg of the global competition that will reveal its next winner this November.

“Repco is thrilled to join the hunt for the next custom car to be immortalised by Hot Wheels,” said Wayne Bryant, Chief Merchandise and Growth Officer at Repco
“So many car lovers grew up with Hot Wheels, and this is a great chance for local custom car communities to be part of an event that celebrates creating the one-of-a-kind cars we all love.”
Entries closed on 31 May, with the judging process by a local six-member panel to determine the ANZ contender still underway at time of writing.

The winner from our region will join nine other regional finalists for the Legends Tour’s Global Grand Finale, to be held in the USA this November.
Our region has had some success in the Hot Wheels Legends Tour in the past, with the 2023 winner, Chris Watson’s shed-built, MX5-based ‘Chimera’ custom, coming from New Zealand.

The judging criteria for Hot Wheels Legends Tour entries are: ‘Authenticity,’ ‘Creativity’ and ‘Garage Spirit’. Pushing boundaries in automotive design and performance, the first criteria is all about whether the vehicle looks like a Hot Wheels creation. Creativity is about being new and unique, presenting something that Hot Wheels hasn't made before. Finally, Garage Spirit focusses on whether the car looks “built, not bought,” with evidence of late nights, early mornings, grit, determination and passion in its construction.

Fans in Australia will be able out check out the regional winner at a special Hot Wheels Legends Tour live event to be held at Rosehill Racecourse, Sydney, on 30 August, 2026. More details on this will be released in due course.
